    Retail Megatrends: Online Rise, Foreign Fall

    Vancl spring fling offline

    With a theme of "appreciate spring", fashion powerhouse Vancl released its new line of women's apparel. The difference in 2013? Vancl, known for its unique online-only model, gave the new wares an offline release party. Ladies should expect preferential treatment at Vancl: 70% of customers are females, and they averaged 3.25 purchases over Q1 compared to only 2.5 purchases by male customers.     Vancl, Renren become online buds

    Vancl has teamed up with Renren, one of China's largest social networks. Renren users can now log onto Vancl from their Renren accounts to enjoy special promos from the fast-fashion trendsetter. Both companies are after the ever-elusive post-80s/post-90s generations.     Vancl eyes 30% of T-shirt market

    1.3 billion T-shirts? Vancl wants a third. The apparel e-tailer's printed T-shirts broke through 10 million sales in 2011, 13 million in 2012 and are expected to reach 15 million in 2013, a staggering 30% of the total T-shirt market. Printed tees are Vancl's signature product, with themed series featuring film, music, and literature.
